Long time, I didn’t visit my blog, it’s not that I have nothing to write, but my work and other commitments are taking most of my reading and blogging time (yes you got it, the summer vacation started, so host family, friends and indeed spend more time with my little one). That part of life is going great and enjoying same.
Now back to the blog, my blogs I started to pen down my feeling on the issues which I felt worth discussing, but now from past few days I started feeling only negative news is around, economy is bad, more violence, lost jobs and mounting debt, and the political scenario which I don’t have words to comment at this election time. So the press is having a gala time, lot of news around like 9/11 and 26/11 you know how our media celebrate the bad news, and yes we all feel good (I don’t know) to hear update on all this. Still the bad habit exists, reading the news paper at morning which comes with all this bad news on front page to make your day miserable. Like Nassim Nicholas Taleb I am not able to stop reading the news paper and watching TV news.
On the economic slowdown I have my own views, this will all get back to normal and start showing growth in next month, precisely in the month of May and the steady growth will start from September, so that part I don’t see much trouble, because I believe the whole finance system is a fraudulent set-up, it’s a system built on the false belief of people, and the moment if all people lose faith on currency the system will collapse. And if this kind of recession goes for long, there is only one option to get this world back on track, that’s the next world war, each war will give an opportunity to re-build and the growth story will come back. So my feeling is once the peak of this growth happen, there will be a steep fall which will end in a war to provide all the required ingredients for the next growth story.
So that’s all about my feeling about the current situation, now thinking all about this my spiritual sole started the question of self realization, and this carving is made me do something different in my blog. I am starting a hilarious job of translating NARAYANEEYAM in English, I know my limits and lack of command in English, so in precise giving a try and if the god propose I will end up doing a good job.
For those who might have not heard of Narayaneeyam. Narayaneeyam was written by Melpathur Narayana Bhatathiri (1560 to 1646), who lived 400 years before us, was a great scholar and authored many books, but Narayaneeyam become his masterpiece. Bhatathiri wrote Narayaneeyam at the age of 27. The story go like this, his teacher Achyuta Pisharodi was suffering from arthritis, and not able to stand the suffering of his Guru, bhatatiri taken the disease from his Guru as Danam. At the age of 26 Bhatatiri got the arthritis and to get relieved from this the great Malayalam poet Thunchath Ezhuthachan hinted “Meen thottu Koottuka” (start from the Fish), Kerala Brahmins are pure vegetarians and what Ezhuthachan told in plain word look nonsense to all, but Bhatathiri understood the meaning correct, he decided to praise the lord Krishna from “Mathsyavatharam” (Fish). He came to the Guruvayoor temple and started composing Narayaneeyam. He composed one Dasakam (chapter) which on average has 10 shlokas on Guruvayoorappan. On 27th November 1587 he completed the 100th dashakam and got cured of his arthritis.
Narayaneeyam definitely show Bhatatiris suffering, love to Krishna, and the love he got from Krishna. In the first two daskam(chapter) he talk about Guruvayoorappan and the luck of whole human beings, but when he start the 3rd daskam because of his suffering he started talking about the fear surrounding him where he was unsure how long he will be able to continue this prayer, and then onward till the 99th daskam of narayaneeym he ended asking for the cure of his disease.
So let me start this difficult venture of putting it in the way I understood Narayaneeyam, and asking for all help from Guruvayoorappan, who made it possible for Bhatatiri. On the last note the reason and influence for me to do this is Thottam Krishnan Nambootiri, who was a great scholar and conducted enormous number of Narayaneeya saptaham (7 day of reading) and made Narayaneeyam popular in this century. With lot of respect and prayer to all of them and to my beloved Guruvayoorappan I am starting this journey.
